ASYNCHRONOUS
Literary fiction has given us enduring, unforgettable characters—Scout, Holden, Anna Karenina, Bilbo Baggins and so many more. In this workshop, we’ll focus on creating memorable characters by fine tuning their voices, their responses to ordinary as well as unexpected events, their secrets, their motives, their unique expression of self. Bring the cast of characters you have, and expect to create some new ones. Weekly writing exercises and readings will bring the characters into a sharper focus. The workshop is geared toward fiction but is also applicable to character development in memoir. Readings include works by Claire Keegan, Jamaica Kincaid, Tobias Woolf and more.
