Carolyn Forché’s five-day intensive class is designed to push experienced poets in provocative new writing directions. The week is dedicated to writing and receiving feedback on new poems.This is a generative, guided workshop designed to help poets write intensively for a week. Different approaches to process and revision will be offered, and participants will write (and revise) two new poems. This workshop is for those who have been writing poetry for at least three years, and who had had some experience with workshop or group critique. We will be reading an eclectic mix of poets (including Nazim Hikmet, Michael Ondaatje, Rene Char, Yannis Ritsos) as well as short passages on poetics.
