ASYNCHRONOUS with LIVE elements

In this generative fiction workshop, writers will—by the end of our time together—complete a single story that showcases mastery of perspective, setting, propulsion and characterization. Writers at all levels are welcome.

Optional LIVE elements: Zoom meeting to meet and share work.

About the Instructor/Moderator

Cleyvis Natera is an award-winning author, essayist, and critic. Her debut novel, Neruda on the Park, was a New York Times Editor's Choice and was awarded a Silver Medal by the International Latino Book Awards for Best First Book of Fiction. Natera’s second novel is The Grand Paloma Resort. Natera has received awards, fellowships and artist residencies from the Vermont Studio Center, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, PEN America, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Hermitage Artist Retreat, among others.

Their work is regularly exhibited internationally and is in the permanent collections of over 60 museums. Over the past fifteen years, they have built a sustainable career as a visual artist and have extensive experience working with museums, galleries, universities and nonprofit organizations, publishers, and press outlets. In addition to their own creative work, they are passionate about sharing the professional knowledge they’ve acquired throughout their career with other artists.
