ASYNCHRONOUS with OPTIONAL LIVE ELEMENTS

The diary has long been a durable form in poetry–poets like Robert Creeley, A . R. Ammons, Lucille Clifton, and others have used the diary poem to record and illuminate the minutia of their day-to-day lives, transforming experience in real time. In this generative workshop, students (and teacher) will write a weeklong diary poem over the course of the workshop, posting their daily entries for discussion and feedback, while also responding to selected examples of diary poems in an online discussion forum. The class will begin with an optional live discussion session about the form, and will conclude with an optional virtual reading.

Optional LIVE elements: optional Zoom intro at the beginning and optional Zoom reading at the end.
