2023 Summer Workshops

Artists through the centuries have painted the figure to more fully understand the human form and to use it to communicate broader issues. Even today, when digital media is everywhere, more and more contemporary artists are drawn to the pursuit of figurative painting in traditional and innovative ways. In this workshop, we’ll examine contemporary issues in figure painting. Class sessions will include painting the model from observation, exploration utilizing different painting exercises and techniques, slide lectures, and critique.
